POOL NEEDS TO BE DRAINED AGAIN

On April 22, 2008 I received a letter from Burlington Department of Code Enforcement acknowledging receipt of my March 24, 2008 complaint regarding an abandoned pool with a partially submerged black plastic cover at 0 Appletree Point Lane. The letter did not mention the complaint, or specify a remedy. Therefore I followed up, today, with this email sent from the Code Enforcement website:

  • The situation is the same as last year when these photos were taken.
  • Last year, owner/agent used a sump pump to drain the pool, but did not remove -- perhaps was not required to remove -- the black plastic liner.
  • Children catch frogs in this area. If a child slipped under the plastic cover, a tragedy could result.
  • Please. This is a public safety issue, and it can not wait for weeks or months to be attended to!
  • Please order the pool to be drained for public health reasons, and order the plastic liner removed for public safety reasons.
